Cat Vacuuming at Its Finest

Vacuum the Cat
I went through interweb withdrawal at work today. We were severed from the network server. This seems to happen every few weeks. It wasn't fixed by the time I left work. So I spent the night, while watching CSI and the Mets game, surfing on my beloved web, mostly catching up with my Bloglines subs and LJ FL and then playing with Pandora. I now have a fairly eclectic online radio station that plays rock and roll from oldies and doo op to folk and classic rock, with some soft rock and rockabilly thrown in. Roy Orbison one moment, Poison the next, followed by some Springsteen, then Dion. Programmed in The Monkees, but nothing by them has cued up yet.

And now I need to go to bed. Vacation in just over 2 weeks and I have a gazillion things to do. Yikes.

Battlestar Galactica
So I'm watching Man from UNCLE on the American Life Channel and they have on a commercial for a pet vac. That's right. I saw a commercial of cats and dogs being vacuumed and they seemed to enjoy it. The commercial made it seem like such a worthwhile, valuable endeavor, it'll be hard to think of the term "cat vacuuming" as a time waster from now on.

Made my Battlestar Galactica icon, which I'm using here, but I could as easily have used my MFU icon or my Vacuum the Cat icon.

LJ is an all-time time-waster. It's amazing how many ways there are on LJ to waste time. Why, just last night alone, I killed lost spent 4 f'in hours playing with layouts. Why? Because making 4 different color schemes for Flexible Squares wasn't enough for me (and I'm either going to fiddle with them more, or make another one because I want to try one with a narrower posting area). No, I had to go and play with another layout: Smooth Sailing. And let me tell you, getting all my sidebar items in its sidebar took a lot of work. I need all or most of those items, which include a counter and blog rings and directory listings. And I needed to change all double quotes (") in the html to single quotes ('). Do you have any idea how many double quotes I had in the html, which I copied from my main FlexiSquares theme layer. And I kept missing some, which meant I couldn't compile and save. Argh.

But was that enough for me? Noooooo. No, now I want to do the same with Nebula, because I now have a tutorial, thanks to the [info]explainittome community, to add to the sidebar.

But will that be enough? Noooooooo. Because now, I want to play with communities. I made a starter one, with just me as a member (closed membership), so I can see what it's like to have one. So, now I'd like to start one for real, but haven't been able to think of anything fun that isn't already sufficiently covered on LJ already. Suggestions would be appreciated. If I come up with some ideas, I'll post a poll to see what people would be interested in joining.

Can we say addicted to blogging and to LJ?

A photo of an actual cat being vacuumed. Stuff on my Cat is one of my new favorite sites.

And to make myself feel productive, I played with styles here while watching TV.

The things I do to kill a day. The Unky Moods site is gone, so to get moods in Cyber Chocolate, I made a batch based on my Shelly icons I'm using here and added text for the moods and am putting them in CC's entries. So I spent too much time this weekend making 17 of the suckers. Like I didn't have anything better to do today.

And a reminder, if you're of a mind to read my book reviews, you can friend [info]shbkshelf. And if you want to keep up with personal bits of my life and see fun links and a lot of other crap interesting tidbits, you can friend [info]cchoc. If that sort of thing interests you, because I don't really want to repeat all that stuff here and I thought some folks reading this LJ might be interested.

Oh, and I made a few more userpics for here, too. I mean, while I had Photoshop open, why not?
