Welcome
Here you'll find the rantings of a blogging fool and sometimes writer. My more personal posts, including progress reports on my various writing projects, are Friends Only. General posts on writing are Public. Please see my user profile for my other LJs and my friending policy, and browse through the sidebar for nifty goodies and useful info.
Writing only leads to more writing. (Colette)
Visitors from 1/30/05:
I started blogging in March 2004. I don't count the LJ I created in the fall of 2003. I didn't know what to do with it, nor did I really grasp the concept of blogging, so it died a natural death when I promptly forgot both the username and password.
In March 2004, however, I noticed something on AOL about journals, so I created a couple. And I started Googling subjects that interested me and the word blog, and found many interesting ones to read. And wanting to try out other services but not knowing what else to blog about, I created mirror blogs of one of the AOL journals, Presto Speaks! I created one version on Blogger and one, this one, here. I quickly tired of the limitations on the AOL one, so I deleted it. Blogger and LJ had different, though overlapping features I liked, so I kept mirroring the posts. That grew tedious. The intent had been to use Presto Speaks! as a complement to the ImPRESS Books website, hence the name, for the imp mascot, Presto. I would talk about writing in general, mention favorite resources, keep things impersonal. I decided to use one for that and the other for more personal entries, but that didn't work for me because each version had different readers and I wanted everyone to be able to read everything. Since this has the friends list, I made it the writing blog and changed the name to Write Stuff (still have that weird username tho) and the other is now a blog about blogging.
Still, I haven't gotten too personal here. I'll answer the occasaional meme. I'll post updates re: my writing progress, but last night was the first time I got really personal and posted something actually from my project, more intimate in a way than that first line meme. I made the entry friends only and exposed myself to comment. I know folks are busy, but the very limited response has me wondering, mostly if I'm disappointed or relieved to not get much response so far.
I also know I haven't been the biggest commenter lately, being a bit busy myself, so I checked my stats:
So, I've posted quite a bit more comments than I've received here. I'd suspected as much, but here's the confirmation. I don't plan to slow down commenting, but now I won't feel guilty when I don't have the time or can't think of what to say.
